One Year & Counting

Last Sunday, the JJ team celebrated our first year anniversary in BKK.  Wow, one year.  I cannot believe 365 days flew by just like that, which means, I think I am having fun, right?

I did say, that my recent post before this was my last here in this space. But this particular one, for me,  cannot be posted anywhere else— One Year in BKK — is just perfect for this space!

So what were we up to last Sunday?

The hubby and I did our thing— joined a 10km run.  It was a perfect one year celebration for us, because we hardly ever run together, here in BKK, anymore.  With his traveling and work,  it's somehow impossible.  So, that run, being our first race here, is very memorable and will be posted in our books:-)  Ha! besides, waking up at 4am just to run 10Km should be very special!

Then, we had lunch with good friends who were visiting from Manila, but were leaving that day, (Nathan and Angela Floro with the cutest baby Lucia!) , at our fave mall, Central World.  After which we went malling, since BKK is on its Annual Sale anyways....

We did pass this Jaspal photo booth, which I had to see and try....  Such a cool thing!  You take a photo and you can either choose to email the images or upload to facebook (visit their site to know more www.jaspal.com)  I love it...  a pity
Paolo did not want his photo taken, even for kicks :-(

Our One Year Celebration was not grand, but it was intimate and fun.   I am definitely looking forward to another year here in BKK!

My posts here may be a few and far between, looks like this won't be my last post:-)

At Last.....

Hello friends,

I think (hopefully) this is my last post in this site.  

No, no no— I am not saying goodbye.  

I cannot do that.  I just created a new home. 

Somewhere permanent and constant.....  

.......You see, I realized somewhere along my blog-life, that I cannot be moving or closing down a blog, when the time comes that  we have to move again (not that we are yet, but who knows?)

..Because our life as an expat is a constant change and I have accepted that. 

Plus it also got me thinking, I may be a CATwife now, but I won't one be forever, right?....

Besides, I really do not want to be branded as that the rest of my blog-life 

so the best  I'd do now, is create my own brand

....something that is really ME and what I stand for (likes, passions, etc)...

I have been working on my new home/site for, I think, over a month now.

I put my heart, soul, sweat and time into this and I am happy..

I hope you come and visit— and eventually bookmark & subscribe:-) 

For the friends who have supported me throughout my CATwife stint

I am counting that we will still be friends and you can still follow? :-)  

It would be an honor and would make me so happy...

A New Direction + Live Young

Hello dearies! 

I missed you. 

It's been a tough week of not being able to blog nor update...

...but just a few more tweaks and I am finally there.  

Soon, I will be able to finally write and blog...

  Please be patient (I am convincing myself more as I type this!) 

This is important to me, so I must make sure I am doing this right...

They recently came to BKK and the hubby and I chanced upon it at  a few weeks ago (at Central World,)  I could not resist.  I had to partake.  

And in the process convinced him too!  

Super fun and cute...

All we needed to do was sign up; download the Live Young iPhone App also for free and have your photo taken using their shirt and you get to take the shirt home.  

My photo looks kinda goofy and awkward, but I don't care. 

Here it is.... (laugh out loud!)

I wanted to do something than just stand:-)

There is no way you will be able to see the hubby's pic, but he is not as crazy as I amSo,  count it to be better—way better!  

Never mind, by doing this, I am taking Evian's slogan by heart:  

Live Young (right?!)

I'll See You In September!

Guess what's coming to town in September?  

I just had to take my photo. I love shopping in Uniqlo, because its value for money.
I just wish the price is just as reasonable here, like Singapore:-) 

Can I scream and jump for joy?! 

I actually did and the hubby had to contain me :-)

 I did wish for this and now it's coming true

So, its a date! The first branch is opening at Central World.

Another reason why BKK is a sweet place to live in...

(oops and I heard Ikea in November! double sweet!)

Putting My Feet Up...

Today I have every reason to snuggle in and put my feet up.  It's a rainy and gloomy Friday, conducive to nothing but feeding my soul with creativity and enriching images for my eyes and mind!

First up, from cover to cover, I plan to scrutinize one of my favorite decorating magazines:

Elle Decor, given as a gift by my good BKK friend (Thank you so much Meg Francisco) who just recently arrived from her one-month US trip.  She knows I adore home and decorating, and magazines! The same passions we share....

I am excited for this issue!  Just take a look inside ...

Important:  The feature on A-List designers, includes a Filipino Designer —Daniel Romualdez—he  designed Tory Burch's house! Yes! Way to go; another reason to be proud for being a Pinoy (slang for Filipino).  

Amazon is exciting and buying books online is such an easy feat (oops also addicting!) that I bought three to add to my Good Reads list.  And I thank Meg for hand carrying them for me all the way to BKK (Thank you so much, Meg.. endless thanks to you!) 

Been wanting these! It's just half the price at Amazon.com against the bookstore prices here; just had to take advantage!

I can't wait to read this too. After that blogging magazine my sister-in-law sent me
I just had to learn more!  Hmmm I think this costs just as much as the mag too...

A Play Date At Juno Park Town {Where To Bring Your Toddler}

I was excited when fellow BKK Mum, Claire (creator of Mums In Bangkok),  emailed inviting my spunky Menca for a play date with Thomas one Saturday last month. I was excited for two things— it's a new place + spunky Menca gets to run around again.  It's also literally just a stone throw away from our place, so all the more I wanted to see this new potential "playground".

And, it's  gorgeous!  As soon I saw it,  I was already imagining that we will come here almost every weekend...

As soon as we got there, Claire and Tom were there, and  the Menca didn't waste any minute—she and Tom started to wander and play on anything they can get their hands on (kids will be kids!)......

Sometimes they would play solo....

But most of the time, they would play together...

At one time, Mum Claire and I joined them...

I really love this place. It's perfect enough for the kids to wander around on their own, yet still see them. 

They even have an Art corner and a Cooking Corner 

I love this area the most —clever idea on those-round-abouts, where children can hide, and make play more exciting!

.....Exactly what Tom and Carmen are doing... goofing off and having a blast!

The Juno Park Town is the perfect kids place.  The downside is, it was not what we thought it was—a drop-off play for kids.  Claire and I got it all wrong, and mistook it for one.  Disappointing, really—we were mislead by the name.  What it really is, is a sort of a learning center, where kids go through actual learning programs, on per level basis (at least that is how they explained it)  Oh, well, it was not a waste, because after all, the kids had so much fun!  And so did we....

Actually, the Juno Park Town website is as confusing, first on as how to get here( this new branch has no signage at all!), and second, for what the Park really stands for.  Oops not complaining as our day here was worth it:-)

Good Reads {Room Rescues}

This design and decorating book by Jane Burdon, was my bible when I was putting my BKK home together— so love it!  I was lucky to find it, at a discount (yehey!) in Kinokuniya (Emporium branch).   The practical tips were so easy to apply, with of course a little tweak here and there to add my personal touch, which made each room unique and homey...

Me and A Cup Of Hot Chocolate....

Remember Watinee? If not, click here to see how fab she looks.  Plus,  she is also the brains behind this so called, Me and A Cup Of Hot Chocolate!

But What is it?  It’s a fabulous line of paper products that I spotted while browsing through the stationery section (BTrend) of the Emporium Mall. 

I am a confessed stationery junkie , so when I saw these—it was love at first sight!  Plus, the nosy me just had to contact the genius behind this brand and that’s how I met Watinee.

I am loving that every notebook, cards, stickies and notepads , are unique.  They are lovely to give too!!!

Watinee, also known as Meo (pronounced meow, like a cat),  is a fashion designer for a famous brand (F Fashion) who loves to draw/sketch fashionable women in lovely clothes during in her spare time.  Every week for a year, she was able to compile a lot that inspired her to make use of them by printing them, instead of just stashing it away—clever! 

Now, she supplies the major stationery sections of BTrend and Loft and has even a full range of from notebooks, pad, greeting cards post cards, sticky notes and even scarves!  She is wearing one of her designs too (image right).  

Why the name Me a Cup of Hot Chocolate?   Because it’s her favorite drink :-)  


Watinee is very admirable, not only for her beauty and style, but for her entrepreneurial abilities.  She is one hardworking lady we should watch out for!  

I am inspired by women like Watinee!  I am hoping to meet more like her during my stay here in BKK.
